CANTON, GA (May 16, 2023) – History Cherokee is seeking nominations for its 2023 Historic Preservation Awards. History Cherokee annually recognizes property owners for their efforts in preserving Cherokee County’s unique history at the Preservation Awards Banquet in August. Bronze plaques are awarded to encourage, promote and educate the community of the benefits of historic preservation. No restrictions or limitations are placed upon the recognized properties.
Historic sites or structures must be at least 50 years old, and should exhibit outstanding success in preserving historic features or original designs. Recently rehabilitated properties or those that have been continually maintained over the years are eligible, and owners are encouraged to apply.
Nomination Forms are available online at historycherokee.org/preserve and are due by June 15, 2023.
