WOODSTOCK, GA (June 27, 2024) – The City of Woodstock’s 2024 July 4th Spectacular takes place on Thursday, July 4, 2024. The day’s events include a downtown road race, a Main Street parade, a family-friendly festival, and a thrilling firework display after dusk.

July 4th Road Closure Listing 2024

Road Race

At 6:45 a.m., Main Street and Rope Mill Road will close for the Freedom Run. New this year, Market Street will close between Mill Street and Oak Street and Chambers Street will close from Wheeler Street to Arnold Mill Road for the race. Registration for the 5K/1K/Tot Trot opens at 5:45 a.m. and pre-race assembly is at the Woodstock Arts Event Green on Market Street. More info and online registration at Main Street, Rope Mill Road, and Chambers Street will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Market Street will remain closed for the awards ceremony until 10:30 a.m.

At 9:45 a.m., Main Street and Rope Mill Road will close again for the parade. The parade will begin at Woodstock Elementary School and continue south along Rope Mill Road to Main Street. Floats will continue through downtown Woodstock to the Sam’s Club near GA-92. The Grand Marshal for the parade is Army Air Corps Veteran Russell Vaudrey who served in the Pacific Theater of Operations in WWII. The parade will take place rain or shine unless there is dangerous weather. Roads will reopen around 11:30 a.m.

Following the parade, gather in the Park at City Center for a family-friendly festival that will take place until 3 p.m. The event features a huge foam party plus food, games, arts and crafts, music, and vendors.


The day ends with a truly spectacular fireworks celebration in the area of GA-92 and I-575 after dusk. Woodstock Police Department has established an exit traffic plan and will be directing traffic following the fireworks.
